Prescriptive projects include:
- Lighting & Controls
- HVAC Systems
- Variable Frequency Drives
- Commercial Refrigeration Equipment
- Commercial Kitchen Equipment
- Commercial Plug Load Equipment
For projects where pre-approval is NOT required (Incentives of $5,000 or less)
Follow these simple steps to receive your incentive:
- Have your contractor, distributor or internal staff estimate the total incentive amount for your equipment. If total incentives are less than $5,000, then pre-approval is NOT required.
- Purchase and install the new equipment.
- Complete and submit the appropriate application with authorized signature and detailed invoices. Include the following supporting information along with your application:
- Inventory worksheets for lighting and controls

- Receive your incentive check within 6–8 weeks after verification and payment approval.
For projects where pre-approval IS required (Incentives of $5,000 or greater)
Follow these simple steps to receive your incentive:
- Complete and submit the application and await pre-approval before proceeding. (Note: Project expenditures made by the customer prior to the customer receiving approval of an application will not be eligible for incentives.) Include the following supporting information along with your application:

- Manufacturer data sheets
- A copy of the customer’s BGE electric bill
- IRS Form W-9 completed for payment recipient (available at www.irs.gov)
- You will be notified in writing when your project has been approved for payment. (Note: A site inspection may be required as part of BGE’s approval process.)
- Purchase and install the new equipment. Notify BGE before implementing any changes to the approved project scope.
- Upon completion of project, BGE customer of record must sign and return the written pre-approval letter and provide invoices for all energy efficiency measures. Ensure that the final equipment installed is identical to the equipment specified in your initial application. BGE may require a post-installation inspection to verify compliance with program rules and verify the accuracy of project documentation and equipment operation. You will be notified when your project has been approved for payment.
- You will receive your incentive check within 6–8 weeks after the project’s completion and payment approval.

Energy Solutions for Business – Technical Services
BGE can help you identify and evaluate energy-saving opportunities for your unique or more complex building systems. Contact BGE at 1.410.290.1202 to determine your project’s eligibility.
Energy Solutions for Business – Comprehensive New Construction
- Complete and submit the application.
- Once BGE receives your application, a BGE Program Representative will call you to schedule a preliminary meeting to discuss your project.
- Your BGE Program Representative will schedule a project scoping meeting between the Customer, the Customer’s Design Team and BGE’s approved Technical Services Provider.
- Based on information obtained at the project scoping meeting, the Customer’s Design Team and the BGE approved Technical Services Provider will analyze the project to determine the electric energy savings and any potential rebates for equipment upgrades. Final reports along with a New Construction Summary Saving Request will be sent to BGE for final review.
- Once you and your BGE Program Representative agree upon the electric energy savings measures to be installed and the corresponding potential rebate, BGE will send a pre-approval letter along with the Minimum Requirement Document (MRD). This letter is your authorization from BGE to purchase and install the equipment identified in the study.
- BGE will hold a post-inspection of the installed equipment and determine the final rebate amount based on inspection findings.
- You will receive your incentive check within 6-8 weeks after the post-inspection.
