Homeowners: How to Participate
Say goodbye to drafty rooms, uneven temperatures, mold and moisture problems, and hidden causes of high energy use. The step-by-step information below will guide you through the Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® process—from finding your contractor through project completion and applying for all possible rebates from BGE.
Step 1: Select a participating contractor to perform your Home Performance Energy Audit. To be eligible for Home Performance with ENERGY STAR rebates, you must work with a participating contractor. Click here for a list of participating contractors. The cost for the audit is $100*. If the home is more than 3,000 square feet or has more than one combustion zone, additional fees may apply at the discretion of the contractor you select.
Step 2: Schedule your Home Performance with ENERGY STAR Energy Audit with your contractor.
Step 3: Review the Home Energy Audit Report with your contractor, discuss the findings and recommendations, and decide on the measures to implement.
Step 4: Have the work performed, which enables you to take advantage of up to $3,150 in rebates from BGE for improvements such as air sealing, insulation, and replacement of heating and air conditioning equipment.
