1. What are the specific income qualifications for BGE's Limited Income Energy Efficiency Program?
The program is available to households with a total income that is less than 175% of the federal poverty level. The allowable income limits are based on household size. To view the current income eligibility levels by household size, please visit the MD Office of Home Energy Programs at http://www.dhr.state.md.us/meap/income.htm
2. How does BGE's Limited Income Energy Efficiency program work?
All you have to do is call BGE’s Smart Energy Savers Program® Call Center at 1-877-685-SESP (7377) and speak to a Customer Service Representative. They will verify your home type, your status as a MEAP or EUSP recipient, and your home ownership. If your eligibility is verified, your Customer Service Representative will set an appointment for your comprehensive home energy audit. The audit will determine which improvements your home is eligible for. If you approve the installation of those recommended improvements, they will be installed at no additional cost to you.
3. Does the program include major structural repairs to my home?
Unfortunately, significant repairs such as large roof replacements are not covered by the program. The program covers only limited repairs that address health and safety issues associated with combustion equipment, or that are needed to install energy efficiency measures.
4. I’m not sure if my home has been previously weatherized or if I am eligible for any additional measures if it has been. What should I do?
It is very possible that the Limited Income Energy Efficiency Program will now cover measures that you did not have covered through a previous program. To find out if you qualify and for more information, call 1-877-685-SESP (7377).
