Instructions for Obtaining a BGE WMS (Work Management System) Number

  1. The BGE WMS number is an 8 digit number that is strictly a numeric number.
  2. It is preferred that the WMS number is requested at the building permit stage.
  3. Lead time for an individual service request will vary (4 to 12 weeks) depending on scope of work, permitting requirements, and weather conditions.
  4. Within 10 days of receipt of this application, the BGE representative assigned to your job will contact you and advise you of the service request's scheduled completion date.

The Online process to obtain a WMS Number includes the following steps:

  1. Go to BGE.com
     
  2. Customer Service > Service Requests > Construction & Remodeling

  3. Click on Apply for Service Changes in the left nav:

  4. From the Apply for Service Changes page, the customer can elect to View a Checklist before proceeding to the application, or go to the application directly: 
     
  5. The Checklist screen will appear for whichever Application was selected
     
  6. Click on the “Proceed to Application” link at the bottom
     
  7. The Application Screen will appear.
     
  8. Complete the Application and Submit
     
  9. Following submittal, you will receive an email with a reference # (note this is not the WMS #, this is just the confirmation that the application has been received).
     
  10. Within a few days you will receive a follow up email with the WMS #.
