ENERGY STAR is the nationally recognized symbol for energy efficiency, as designated by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). ENERGY STAR certified homes include a variety of "tried-and-true" energy efficiency features:

  • Effective insulation
  • High-performance windows and doors
  • Tight construction and ducts
  • Efficient heating and cooling equipment
  • Efficient products and appliances

To earn the ENERGY STAR, a home must meet energy efficiency guidelines set by the EPA. These homes are at least 15% more energy efficient than standard new homes built to code, and they typically include energy-saving features that make them 20–30% more efficient. Properly installed energy efficiency features deliver better protection against cold, heat, drafts, moisture, air pollution, and noise and help ensure consistent temperatures between rooms. Third-party verification ensures that your ENERGY STAR home will deliver improved quality and comfort with a reduced energy demand. Plus, when the time comes to sell, your home will have the ENERGY STAR label—a big advantage in a competitive real estate marketplace.
