A Quick Home Energy Check-up is a fast, easy way to learn about your home’s energy efficiency. You can start saving energy and, because you’re a BGE customer, it’s at no additional cost.

How It Works

1. Schedule a walk-through of your home. When you schedule a Check-up, a BGE authorized contractor will come to your home and perform a walk-through (that takes about an hour) to review the condition of the following items:

  • Insulation levels
  • Air leakage
  • Heating and cooling systems
  • Windows and doors
  • Lighting and appliances
  • Water-heating equipment

2. Get energy-saving products installed. The authorized contractor may install energy-saving products that can include the following items, at no additional cost:

  • LED light bulbs
  • Smart thermostats*
  • Faucet aerators
  • Efficient-flow showerheads
  • Water heater pipe insulation
  • ShowerStart® showerhead adapter
  • Door sweeps
  • Foam tape weatherstripping

3. Receive your personalized report. After the Check-up is completed, you’ll receive a report that includes custom recommendations to help you reduce your energy use and save money.

Only the contractors on this list are authorized to perform Quick Home Energy Check-ups on behalf of BGE.

Customers are eligible for a Quick Home Energy Check-up at the same address once every 5 years. If you have moved to a new address, you are also eligible for another Quick Home Energy Check-up.

*Not everyone will be eligible for a smart thermostat, work with your contractor to determine your eligibility.
